


Welcome to the World of Work!
The World of Work (WOW) programme is an initiative of The University of the West Indies (UWI) geared primarily toward equipping final year UWI students with the necessary tools for succeeding in today’s work environment.
Recruitment opportunities for 1st and 2nd year as well as final year students
The precursor to the WOW programme is the Career Advice Programme (CAP), which helps first and second year students identify and embark on their career paths. The WOW programme is also highly anticipated by first and second year students, who have the opportunity for vacation employment with companies who attend the Recruitment Fair.
Interviews and Jobs
The WOW programme has attracted an ever-increasing number of participants over the eleven years since its inception. More than 1,100 final year students participated in WOW 2007. Several students obtained interviews and job offers through this initiative.

Final Year Students, Register Now!
Final year students, it is not too late to participate in WOW events. Visit the WOW registration booths at your respective faculty and Register Now!!
Registration is required for ALL activities EXCEPT the Recruitment Fair on March 6th, and Registration is open to Final Year students only.
Registration for Résumé Writing Workshops, Seminar, Professional Etiquette session, Mock Interviews and Recruitment Fair runs from January 16th to 22nd. Final year students are required to pre-register for WOW activities.

The WOW Seminar features a series of presentations on topics such as: Résumé Writing & Interview Techniques, Corporate Etiquette and Grooming, and Becoming an Entrepreneur.
Attendance at WOW Seminar is mandatory for entry to the Mock Interviews and Recruitment Fair.

WOW Mock Interview Session- February 16th and 23rd, 2008
Time: 9: 00 am - 12 noon
Venue: UWI Sport and Physical Education Centre (SPEC) and Heart Ease Teaching FacilityWhen it comes to interviewing, you can never be too prepared. HR interviewers specialise in throwing curveballs and judging your demeanour to determine if you are the most suitable candidate.
At the WOW Mock Interview Sessions, you can practise your interviewing skills and receive feedback from HR Managers and recruiters of some of the region’s leading organisations.

WOW Recruitment Fair- March 6th and 7th
Time: 9: 00 am - 1: 00 pm
Venue: UWI Sports and Physical Education Centre (SPEC) During your years at UWI you can access different internship and mentorship programmes.The WOW Recruitment Fair offers one further opportunity. Open to all UWI students, this Fair gives you the chance to meet recruiters, submit your résumé and learn more about the different types of employment available at leading local and international organisations.
The Recruitment Fair takes place over two days, with one day open to all students and another restricted to final year students. Companies and organisations from a variety of fields are invited to recruit students for either vacation or graduate employment.

Get ready to start your career with SAS
Employers are seeking students who have achieved academic excellence and relevant practical work experience. At UWI there are many ways to achieve practical skills to help give you a wider range of career options when you graduate. UWI Student Advisory Services (SAS) offers the following programmes.
Career Advice Programme (CAP)
CAP is designed to provide information and advice on Career Planning and Development to students from Year One to final year. CAP workshops are held on Thursday afternoons from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. You can attend only one session.
Students interested are required to indicate which session they would like to attend. Register at Student Advisor Services any time between Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
UWI Co-operative Training Programme
Undergraduate students are encouraged to participate in a one year internship programme. The programme provides students with work experience placement in an organization relevant to their workplace skills. The CTP offers students the opportunity to acquire structured exposure to the world of work. New students should apply to be part of this programme in their second year.

Computer Aided Career Guidance Facility
Located at the Student Services, this facility helps students make informed and realistic decisions about their working lives.
Mentorship Programme
The programme pairs UWI students with UWI alumni in a range of organisations to provide information, advice and hands on experience.
