A new book entitled 'Aluminium smelting: Health, Environmental and Engineering Perspectives' published by Ian Randle and edited by M. Khare, C. Sankat, G. Shrivastava and C. Venkobachar is now available at the UWI bookshop.
This book comprises 13 chapters on issues such as: Land Use and Physical Planning; Environmental Concerns of Aluminium Smelting in a Small Island Developing State; Health and Aluminium Smelting; Ecosystem and Industrial Development and Engineering Perspectives of Industrial Development. Thus, while the specific focus is on aluminium smelting in a small island, the book approaches industrial development from a broad perspective and diversity of ideas. It also includes a thoughtful foreword by Dr. B. Tewarie, former Campus Principal and now PVC Planning & Development, and a review by Professor Alan Davison, Emeritus Professor at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in UK.
