Nurses pinned

Just over 30 students took part in the First Pinning Ceremony, BSc in Nursing in November at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Centre.

Professor Phyllis Pitt-Miller, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, in a brief address, highlighted the communications skills and the introduction to research which are taught to the students during the programme.

Dean Pitt-Miller said the communications skills will especially “to all our graduates who become involved in school nursing, where you will be expected to not only provide nursing care but also education to try to ensure healthy lifestyle choices”.

With regards to research, she pointed out that “as clinical research increases, research nurses will be recruited and your training will make you eminently qualified”.
