The Caribbean Trade Network (CTN), funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in conjunction with the Graduate Institute of International Relations (GIIR) University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine Campus, will be hosting a conference entitled “Caribbean Trade Challenges - Where do we go from Here?” on October 23 and 24, 2006. The aim of the CTN project is to create a regional network that will promote trade related research, in an effort to respond to the trade policy needs of the region. Issues that will be discussed include:
- The role of the Caribbean in non-tourism services trade
- International trade-related investment strategies for the Caribbean
- The implications of WTO-compliance for the Caribbean
- The potentials of inter-regional trade between the Caribbean, Central America and Latin America
