Mark Loquan is the president of Yara Trinidad Ltd. (formerly Hydro Agri Trinidad Ltd) and is the first national of Trinidad and Tobago to hold that position.

On March 25, 2004 Hydro Agri Trinidad Ltd took the name Yara upon demerger of the agricultural division (Hydro Agri) from Norsk Hydro ASA of Norway, which resulted in Hydro Agri taking the name Yara International ASA, a separate company with its own listing on the Oslo Stock Exchange. Yara International ASA operates in 83 countries in the world.

 

Mr. Loquan has extensive industrial and corporate experience with a global perspective. He has 18 years of industrial experience, having started his career in the petro-chemical sector in 1982, as a process Engineer with the Trinidad Nitrogen Co. Limited. He was instrumental in the construction of the Tringen II plant commissioned in 1988, to managing the largest group of employees in the company’s core business.

Mr. Loquan was reassigned to Norway in 2004 and returned to Trinidad operations after a two and a half year assignment with Hydro’s global purchasing group based in Oslo, where he worked closely with Hydro Agri production site worldwide in developing best practices in global purchasing and supply management.

Mr. Loquan is a graduate of the University of the West Indies in chemical engineering, and also holds a Masters in Business Administration from North Carolina’s Duke University, Fuequa School of Business.
