Principal, Dr. Bhoe Tewarie on December
6, 2004 signed a Memorandum of Agreement
(MOA) with Unilever Caribbean Ltd. to collaborate
on training and research activities for
the Caribbean. Signing on behalf of Unilever
was managing Director Pablo Garrido.
The
MOA will facilitate activities such as workshops,
seminars and training programmes as well
as research projects undertaken by graduate
students. Additionally, Unilever will sponsor
scholarships for nationals studying at home
or on study abroad programmes.
At
present, Unilever is being supported by
the Department of Management Studies as
well as the Social Work Unit on human development
and community projects. Undergraduate students
currently benefit from on-the-job training
in the company’s Management Training Programme.
This
is one of several collaborative relationships
between UWI and private sector organizations.
