SCHOOL FOR GRADUATE STUDIES & RESEARCH
POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS 2006/07

Applications are invited for the award of the following Postgraduate Scholarship for the 2006-2007 academic year:

• BPTT/UWI Alumni Scholarship

The scholarship is tenable only at the St. Augustine campus of The University of the West Indies and is normally awarded for a period of one (1) academic year.  The value of the award is TT$ 36,000.00.

The award will primarily cover the cost of books, materials and tuition with the balance being devoted to subsistence.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:-

• Be CARICOM nationals with university degrees (at least Upper Second Class or its equivalent). 

• Be pursuing full-time postgraduate study (M.Sc./M.Phil/Ph.D.) researching a topic in the field of Environmental Biology/Ecology

• Have maintained an outstanding academic record (with at least B+ average in coursework).

Applicants are advised to note that the selection process will include the following:

• A selection interview conducted by a panel;

• The completion of a 3-5 page essay on one's suitability for the award of the scholarship;

• An assessment of the applicant's need for financial assistance.  Priority will be given to those applicants who demonstrate critical financial need.

NB: The forms are to be completed in duplicate and submitted with two (2) referees’report forms.  You are required to return your application to the School for Graduate Studies and Research, Dudley Huggins Building no later than
September 22, 2006.
