How Do I Apply?

The application:

The first step is to make an appointment with the UWI International Office. Our office is located at the Institute of Critical Thinking. Please call 662-2002 ext. 4134 or 4135 to set up an appointment. In the initial stages you will be required to fill out a pre-application form.

The interview:

Based on your selection, you will then be interviewed and advised accordingly by the Director of the International Office. Interviews are currently held on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.

What happens next?

You will be required to select a university that offers the UWI-equivalent second year courses that you wish to pursue.

Then what?

The UWI International Office will process your application. Following this, the UWI International Office will liaise with the host university and confirm when you have been formally accepted.

Documents required:

Prior to departing Trinidad, you must have your letter of acceptance from the host university and your student visa issued by the Embassy/High Commission of the host country. The International Office will issue a Letter of Support to assist with obtaining your student visa.

Departure:

You will be required to attend a pre-departure briefing at the UWI International Office.

What should I do when I arrive at the host university?

You should report to the Director/Head/Coordinator of the International Programme at your convenience for guidelines on settling any outstanding fees, orientation, obtaining a visiting student ID and clarification of responsibilities and procedures.

While you are away:

Should something unexpected arise, please feel free to call the UWI International Office at (868) 662-2002 ext. 4134 or 4135 or (868) 645-9449 with questions, or email us at internationaloffice@sta.uwi.edu and we will do what we can to assist. Once you arrive at your destination and get settled in your local housing, please inform us of your new mailing address and phone number, in the event any office at the UWI needs to contact you. You are expected to abide by the regulations and ordinances of the host institution.

What happens at the end of your exchange?

You will be required to return to the UWI St. Augustine campus to continue your final year of study. Once you have returned to the UWI, please check in at the International Office to let us know you are back and share your experiences with us. You will be asked to complete an evaluation form on your host university which will be put on file for the use of other UWI students contemplating applying to the same university.

Where should I send my transcript?
