Student Exchange

If your institution has a formal exchange agreement with UWI, you may be eligible to study at UWI for one or two semesters as an exchange student. Exchange students remain enrolled with their home institution and continue to pay tuition fees to their home institution. Generally, exchange students are responsible for all other expenses such as housing, travel, books, meals and personal expenses.

If your institution does not have a formal student exchange agreement with UWI, you may apply to study here for one or two semesters as a study abroad student. You must obtain permission from your own university and are responsible for contacting the study abroad advisor at your home institution to discuss obtaining credit for the studies you will undertake at UWI. As a study abroad student, you will be required to pay tuition fees to UWI. Please see the latest undergraduate and postgraduate financial information booklets for details on tuition, housing and compulsory fees.

Academic requirements for participation

Exchange students should have:

• Completed at least one year of study at their home university at the time of participation in the exchange programme
• A GPA of at least 3.0 or grades equivalent to a B average

English language requirement

Applicants whose first language is not English are required to perform satisfactorily in an approved English Language Test, such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A mark of 500 in the TOEFL is accepted as equivalent to, and in place of, an acceptable CXC pass in English A.
