UWI/Guardian Life 'Premium' Teaching Awards

Rationale

The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, is committed to providing a dynamic, highly student-centred learning environment in which student learning is pursued as a primary goal of the academy, and excellence in teaching is recognized and rewarded. It seeks to provide a learning environment that is enhanced by the research, discovery and integration of new knowledge; characterized by a sense of shared purpose and collaboration and supported by the judicious use of information and communication technologies.

Within this environment, the Campus seeks to produce graduates that are independent learners; problem-solvers; logical, enquiring, creative thinkers; team workers; and with well-developed skills for self-directed, life-long learning. In pursuing this commitment to educational excellence, the St. Augustine Campus is keen to recognize, celebrate and reward members of its faculty whose performance is deemed to be outstanding and who provide exemplary models of what it takes to create the kind of learning environment outlined above, and an institution with a global reputation for quality teaching and learning.
