Welcome!

Welcome all new and returning students!

UWI Hiking Club, successfully led and maintained by UWI students, has been in existence for a number of years. It was established, not only with the intention of promoting the exotic treasures hidden within the unique flora and fauna of Trinidad and Tobago but more so to promote recreation, fitness and adventure as a co-curricular activity for the students at the University of the West Indies while at the same time encouraging social integration of the Campus population.

An activity described as trekking through lush forest, hiking also entails increasing ones’ knowledge, understanding and appreciation for the environment. The UWI Hiking Club fosters an opportunity for UWI students to become one with nature which can facilitate a clearer understanding of ones’ role within the environment. This in turn aids in the processes of self-discovery and self-actualization. For UWI students, this is recommended.

By providing guided tours through predetermined trails, the UWI Hiking Club attempts to cater to the needs of every participant by highlighting and explaining features of the trail and it’s surroundings along the way.
