The student counselling and psychological service (CAPS) offers a range of services including crisis intervention, diagnostic assessment, therapy for individuals, couples and families. The number and frequency of sessions are determined individually, largely based on what the student finds most helpful. In addition, CAPS can make referrals for psychiatric assessment at the Eric Williams Medical Complex when appropriate, and assist students with medication management.

All registered UWI students are eligible for services at CAPS. All services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.

Students can phone or pop in and make a time to speak with a Student Counsellor for themselves. Alternatively, a friend or member of staff may encourage a student to visit CAPS and assist him/her in making an initial appointment. While the Counsellors usually see students by appointment, every effort is made to accommodate someone in an emergency.

Opening hours:
CAPS is available throughout the year, Mondays to Fridays (except public holidays).
During semesters, we are open from 8:30am to 8pm.
During vacation, we close at 4:30pm.
