The UWI Life Programme is an
innovative way to introduce
our new and incoming
students to the ins and outs
of campus life. It is
coordinated by the Marketing
& Communications Office. It
was held over a two-day
period. On the first day,
there was a seminar for
persons who are closely
related to new persons such
as parents, spouses,
siblings or other family
members. They posed
questions to a panel of
senior university management
and staff who provide
support for services on
campus. They also received
advice about how to adjust
to their students'
transition to university
life. The second day's
activities took place during
a morning and afternoon
session. The morning session
was hosted by UWI's
Arts-in-Action group and was
geared toward helping
students cope with the
critical life issues they
will encounter on campus.
The afternoon session was an
"icebreaker" hosted by
comedienne, actress, TV and
radio host Nikki Crosby.
Staff and students took part
in a game of UWI Jeopardy
and there were several
giveaways donated by local
sponsors. The band Imij &
Co. ended the day on a high
note with an energetic
performance.
It is our hope that this
event will greatly assist in
the integration of new
students into the UWI way of
life. We look forward once
more to the UWI Life
Programme in the month of
September.
