Note: When making the selection of Applicant Type, select either: New Undergraduate Full-time (from Dec 1- Jan 19), New Undergraduate Part-time or New Undergraduate Evening (from Jan 22 - Mar 29)
Applicant Types
full-time Undergraduate student
Apply from Dec 1st - Jan 19th
In its broadest definition, a student who engages in employment for no more than twelve (12) hours per week, and is committed to a full-time course of study is categorised as a full-time student.
Note: that a person in full-time employment CANNOT be registered as a Full-time student unless written proof of approved leave is provided prior to registration.
Candidates who will be sitting examinations in November 2006 and between January and June 2007 to qualify for admission may also submit applications.
part-time Undergraduate Student
Apply from Jan 22nd - March 29th
A part-time student is one who is employed for more than twelve (12) hours per week. The Faculties of Humanities & Education, Science & Agriculture, and Social Sciences all offer opportunities for part-time study. In the Faculty of Social Sciences, Level I only of the degree programme may be pursued over a two-year period, while degrees offered by the Faculties of Science & Agriculture and Humanities & Education can be taken by following the same courses as fulltime students but extending the period of study.

Occasional Students
If you wish to attend UWI for a period of study not leading to any degree or diploma you may seek admission as an Occasional Student. You must be recommended by the Head of Department whose lectures, tutorials and or laboratory classes you wish to attend and you will be charged a per-credit fee. Occasional students may not write examinations in the course(s) for which they are registered.

Mature Student

A mature student is a person who enters the University at the age of 21years and over, and has been out of secondary school for at least five years. Such a person should demonstrate academic potential and have gained relevant academic knowledge and work-place experience. You will be required to present with your application, full details of your career. This includes a document outlining your knowledge development, employment record, and an official academic transcript. You must also submit certificates, documents, and references. In addition, you may need to take additional tests or participate in interviews as required by the Admissions Committee and the relevant Faculty.
continuing studies STudent

The School of Continuing Studies (SCS) caters to the wide-ranging needs of adult learners, by offering various certificate courses in general education, vocational and job-oriented, special skills, further education and external studies, and provides access for persons who want to enter the University and who do not meet the normal matriculation requirements. To date, 10 of the School’s further education courses have been accorded matriculation status for entry to relevant Bachelor’s degree programmes, while some are under review for upgrading to Associate degree status. Alternative access matriculation courses offered by SCS:
- Pre-Agriculture & Science programme (one year) in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- The Pre-Health Professions Programme, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
